Part of an ongoing series of black & white images depicting the edifices or other traces left by people on the side of the road, inviting the viewer to imagine the stories evoked by those structures or other mute signs of human presence.
hicksimages > Small repair shop that has failed and fallen into such sad disrepair over time that it is in need of repairs that will probably not be forthcoming. One can only imagine the hopes and efforts of someone trying to build their own repair business because they have a knack for such labor. Perhaps the end of someone's dream of independence. Part of an ongoing series of black & white images depicting the struggle to succeed by small town independent businesses. Images of the business place have much to tell of the efforts and sometimes sad failures of the plucky, individualistic risk takers who try to be their own boss.

One or more independent minded people tried every way they could to make a success and be their own boss.
